A NOTE FROM OUR CEO

Forty years ago, VOC’s founders acted upon a belief in giving back to the beautiful places they loved, so future generations could enjoy them, too. Since then, VOC has built a community dedicated to Colorado’s lands, waters, wildlife, and people. This anniversary marks a time to celebrate the small beginning that has led to big results, with so many accomplishments and countless lives touched by our incredible volunteer community.

This report is both a reflection and a call to action. A 2022 study shows that while 77% of outdoor enthusiasts recreate over 12 times per year, only 19% participate in stewardship. Together, we can close this “stewardship gap” and make a greater impact. Whether through a small donation, inviting a friend, or joining us on a project, you can help bring Colorado closer to our founders’ vision of a protected, cherished outdoors. Join us!

Thank you,

Chris Nesset

Chief Executive Officer

Chris Nesset
